Doing Our Part

Ed and I spent $70 (gasp!) on Energy Saver light bulbs at Lowe's the other day in hopes of never having to change light bulbs again and saving the planet. They are expensive but the packaging says they will save us hundreds in energy costs. However, our water bill was over $400 this month due to a running toilet (double gasp!). Hope to remedy that problem today.

Other ways to do our part:
Turn off the water while you're brushing your teeth.
Use reusable grocery bags.
Fill a water bottle with water and put it in your toilet tanks to take up space so that it takes less water to fill the tank.
Take showers and make them as short as possible.
Teach your kids (and yourself) to turn off lights not in use. I can't stand to be in a dark house but am making an effort to turn off lights that aren't needed.
Only run your dishwasher and washing machine when you have a full load.
Recycle, Free-cycle, consume less, and take other steps to reduce your carbon footprint.
